About a year ago, a box arrived at the house with roving, and then one with a spindle. This yarn was the result. My first yarn!
It was the blogging community that helped me realize that my long-held dream of learning to spin was within my grasp. ( and it was a long-held dream....when my sister and I used to compare dream houses as teenagers, my house was full of children, spinning wheels, looms, and quilting frames.) So my already-blessed life holds one more little blessing.
What better way to celebrate than a contest?
Leave a comment, making sure that I have information to let you know if you win....either e-mail or blog URL. Tell me if you spin, or not. I will choose a winner by random number generator....if a spinner wins, that person gets a little gift certificate to the Etsy shop Loop. If a non-spinner wins, that person gets a learn-to-spin kit from the Spindle and Wheel shop. I'll choose the winner next Saturday.
I hope to keep learning from you all in this next fiber-year!

Wow, I can hardly believe that you've only been pinning for a year! We're so glad to welcome you into the spinning fold! The last pictures of the twins are just precious!
Well, Happy Spin-aversary to you. Tomorrow is my actual wedding anniversary and I plan to spend it spinning and thinking of my hubby. :). It is indeed hard to believe that you've only been spinning a year. Your yarns are great and I was inpsired by them to recently break out the wheel again and start spinning after a long break. Thanks
I knew there was a reason that I needed to visit your blog today. :-) (Besides catching up on all the spinning and knitting you manage to do.)
You have covered so much more with spinning fiber in one year than I have in two+.
Wow how exciting! Happy Spinnaversary. That is gorgeous first yarn and I can't believe you have only been spinning a year, you must be a natural! :o)
Happy spin-aversary! Your yarns are gorgeous and inspiring - I hope to learn to spin one day, but I haven't tried it yet.
Happy Spinning Anniversary to you!
Your first handspun is GORGEOUS!
I always enjoy reading your blog.
Happy Spin-aversary...what a great photo of your first yarn...(i love first yarn, there is always a special energy locked in it)...
Soon, I hope you will be setting a date to celebrate the anniversary of a wheel ;-)
Happy Spinaversary ;o) I am a spinner too, but I've been taking a long break. I keep dreaming about it though, so maybe soon ;o)
Happy Spinaversary from a fellow spinner :)
Glad to see someone else who takes delight in spinning
I'm not a spinner, but would love to learn. Happy anniversary!
Happy spinaversary. I am not a spinner...YET. Learning how is very high on my list f priorities right now.
Your babies and yarn are beautiful. I have a drop spindle, but don't consider myself a spinner. Congrats on your spin-oversary!
How exciting! And what an accomplishment in such a short time. I've been dying to learn!
Happy spin-a-versary! Your yarn looks so fantastic!
Happy Spin-niversary! What a nice contest. I'd love to learn to spin!
God Bless!
Today celebrates a month since I started spinning. The fiber guild where I learned meets once a month and today is the second meeting. I am hooked. I have a hat I made out of my first real spun yarn and it is my favorite hat because not only did I knit it, but I spun the yarn. The only way it could get cooler is if I actually raised the sheep and sheared it myself. One step at a time though :) Oh and I would also like to mention how much I adore Loop. Her batts are lovely and I can't wait until my spinning is up to useing her stuff.
Your dream house sounds a lot like mine only I would also have some sheep and angora bunnies in the back yard. I am keeping my fingers crossed because I would love to learn to spin.
Only a year? You're doing great!
Happy spinaversary! I'm a spinner too, though I should do more of it.
Happy Spinaversary! Your work is awesome!
I'm not a spinner- yet!
i don't spin. but i guess if i should win, i "may" learn to spin.
Very cool! Congratulations on your spinning anniversary!
I'd love to enter. I'm not a spinner.
Congratulations on your Spinning Anniversary! I'm a newish spinner myself-- going on maybe a year or so now? But I'm knitting up my first real project made with my own handspun at the moment. It's a very warm, fuzzy feeling, if you'll pardon the pun.
grats! I barely spin - I got a spindle a couple of months ago and have some wimpy looking yarn to show for it, but I'm still learning!
my email is mwhitley@utk.edu
I hope I get good at it after a year! I've barely started spinning and will be learning more when I pick up my wheel on the Sea Socks cruise in May (I'm buying one from a fellow passenger who is going to give me lessons as we cruise). For now, I know a very, very little. :)
Happy spin-aversary!

Happy spinaversary!
WOO HOOO for spinning! I love love love it - more than knitting (shhh... don't tell my needles).
PS - Loop is *awesome*!
Sadly, I don't spin :( I'd love to learn though!
Happy spinaversary! I just finished my first small skein and am still making friends with the weheel...love my wheel but we are still learning. (my goal is to take a lesson before winter is finished!) Your first skein looks much like mine, smile.(that inspires me!) here i am:http://turtleslakeknitting.blogspot.com/ off to lurk more!
Donna, a long time ago (grin) when I was a little girl, my family got sheep. My granny and I learned to knit together, and I dreamed that one day I would learn to spin and make yarn from my own sheeps fiber. Well, all these years later (thirty or so) that dream has come true. I have the sheep, I have the wheel, I have the yarn and I have the wonderful memories of my Granny!
Anyway, happy anniversary to you and thank you for sharing your daydreams with us here on your blog! Hugs, Cary (who can't wait to see you next month!)
Happy spin-aversary from a fellow spinner!
your children are beautiful- good job!

happy spin-aversary! i was sent over here by hanna at wiknit. i have never done any spinning, but i would love to learn. : )
Oooo... I spin! Been at it for about 5 years now (since I was 16). Happy Spinaversary!
I think you are really good at it. I have just begun spinning - with a drop spindle and find it relaxing. :-)
Thanks for your comment on my blog Donna :>)
Textile postcard swaps are indeed good fun, I've been doing it for years and have a lovely collection of mini pieces of art.
I would like to set up a spinners postcard swap sometime, the textile on the front could be a swatch of knitting, crochet, weaving, etc, done with our own hand spun fibre - what do you think?
Here's to many more happy spinning years from one spinner to another!
Happy Spinaversary!!!! I don't spin but would love to learn.
BTW... your twins are adorable. I have twin girls who turn 9 in Nov. It's amazing to see how different they are. Enjoy them!
Happy spinning anniversary! Isn't spinning great? I got started a little bit over a year ago, but I still have to find a way to make more time for it... I'm getting there, though: the fact that I can't wait to knit with my handspun is a great motivation!

Happy spinaversary! I love seeing what you are up to. As a total non-spinner, I am in total awe of the craft! Looking forward to seeing what you're up to in the coming year!
Happy Spin-aversary! I'm not a spinner, but it's something I'd like to try one day. I haven't tried it yet because I'm afraid it will cut into my precious knitting time.
So far I am a non spinner. I do envision myself spinning some day by drop spindle at least. Fun contest. happy blogaversary!
Happy Blogaversary! I'm a spinner for 2 months now, and really like BFL. Found a Louet S10 on the fleamarket for 10 euro!

Happy anniversary!
I've never tried spinning...
Happy "spinaversary!" What a great milestone to celebrate! My own is coming up next month -- do you ever thing what your life would be like if you hadn't taken up spinning? (apart from having less stash, of course) I can't even imagine it, spinning has become so much a part of my life, as I'm sure it has yours too. May your next year be full of fibre and fun!
And my dream house was full of children and animals! I wouldn't say it's full yet, but 6 children, a hairless dog, 2 parakeets and a turtle in a pond in the corner of the boy's room will have to do for now. Happy Happy Spinaversary from your sister. :-)
Note to the other Theresa: My big sis is a natural at everything crafty. I used to get mad at her for it, but I got over myself. I think. :-) I love how God made us so similar and so different at the same time.
Wow, I have wanted to spin for such a loooooooong time! Thanks for doing this great contest.

I wish I was as accomplished as you are. I have been spinning about a year (took a little break in there), but I feel like I have sooooo much to learn yet. I love all the inspiration out there.
Congrats on your Spin-aversary.
Continue the good work.
Happy spinniversary! I'm a (barely) one year old spinner, too! I like to do it while waiting to pick my kids up at school. I get a lot of stares and questions from the other students (K - 2). Such fun.
